New students will be offered exciting opportunities in the areas of academics, athletics, clubs, organizations and more, but may need to adjust to time management and transition to college-level work. We appreciate that you (as parents and family members) are there to provide support and encouragement throughout this process.

Absolutely! Scholarships are financial awards that students DO NOT have to pay back. A multitude of scholarships are available through the Financial Aid and Foundation offices in addition to other sources.

91暗网 takes pride in providing a safe and secure atmosphere for students. The DeKalb County Sheriff鈥檚 Office has an office on campus that is dedicated to campus safety. Our Security webpage has the Annual Security Report, campus safety tips and emergency resources.

Yes! The Financial Aid/Veteran鈥檚 Affairs Office will provide assistance and enrollment certification for veterans who wish to use their military and G.I. Bill庐 benefits at 91暗网.

Tutoring Services provides individual tutoring assistance for a variety of subjects including the Math Lab, Writing Lab and Speech Lab. This service is free to all 91暗网 students.

The Disability Services office on campus provides needs-based accommodations if the correct documentation is provided. A few of the services provided in this area include extended test time, note takers, test readers, etc.

91暗网 is an open admission institution requiring placement testing to determine a student's appropriate placement in college courses. Students must take the placement test or submit ACT/SAT scores before enrolling in English or math courses or any courses with an English or math pre-requisite. Placement Testing can be scheduled by contacting Student Services at 815-825-9375.

First-time students are strongly encouraged to attend our online NSO prior to attending classes at 91暗网. NSO is an excellent opportunity for students to learn more about campus resources.

Tuition is charged by credit hour. Other expenses include textbooks, transportation, housing, meals, etc.

Each class at KC is offered for a certain number of credit hours. The amount of time spent in lectures, laboratories and/or field experience determines the exact number of credit hours. In order to complete graduation requirements, a specific number of credit hours must be met. In addition, students are encouraged to spend approximately two hours studying outside of class for each credit hour enrolled.

Students must apply for financial aid every year using the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The FAFSA becomes available October 1 each year for the upcoming academic year. Visit the Financial Aid webpage, office, or call 815-825-9328 for more information.

The 91暗网 Store on campus provides textbooks with competitive rates for students in addition to technology, merchandise, school supplies, etc. Students have the option to rent, buy and/or sell their textbooks.

Students are expected to attend classes regularly. If an absence is necessary, it is the student鈥檚 responsibility to contact the instructor and make arrangements to complete any work that was missed. Each instructor will have their own attendance policies including class participation policies outlined in the course syllabus.

General Education Requirements 鈥� sometimes referred to as 鈥淕en Eds鈥� 鈥� include foundational coursework that every degree-seeking transfer student must complete regardless of the transfer degree (A.A. or A.S.). The foundational knowledge these courses provide helps to increase necessary skills such as problem-solving, critical thinking, communication, etc. Refer to the academic catalog for more information.

To be considered a full-time student in the fall, spring or summer semesters, students must be enrolled in at least 12 credit hours. Students may need to be enrolled full-time if they are participating in athletics, covered under their parent鈥檚 health insurance, receiving scholarships, or to be considered for maximum financial aid awards.

Graduation requirements vary by academic program. Students intending to graduate MUST APPLY for graduation through the Student Services Office.

91暗网 will offer six Fast-Track training programs during the Spring 2025 semester. 91暗网 Fast-Track programs provide students with the expertise needed to meet local workforce demands. The programs range from 8-15 weeks, allowing students to immediately start a career or build upon skills with additional training.

91暗网 will host three upcoming information sessions for high school students interested in the Early College Program or Engineering, Math & Science Academy (EMSA). The information sessions are open to current high school sophomores and juniors along with their parents/guardians.
