The outdoor lightning system and weather station are located on top of the scoreboard
at the softball fields. The system's audible alert can be heard from the Colleges
athletic fields, truck yard and other outside areas on campus.
The system alerts when lightning has been detected within a 10-mile radius of the
91做厙 campus.
- Once detected, one 15-second audible alert will sound, followed by a public address
statement, Lightning has been detected. Move to a safe location.
- After the initial 15-second audible alert, a yellow strobe light on top of the system
will begin flashing. This light will remain flashing until safe conditions return.
- If campus buildings are open, seek shelter. If not, seek shelter in a hard-topped
vehicle.
- Remain in shelter until 30 minutes have passed since the last lightning strike.
- The system will provide an all clear with three short audible alerts, followed by
the public address statement, You may resume outside activities. All clear.
